The Plan

Confirmed

For our guests with a propensity for lateness — the ceremony starts at 15:30 ;)

Dress code

Semi-formal / cocktail

Weather note

Please note that, weather-permitting, the ceremony will be held outdoors; the reception will be at least partially outdoors. The weather in Germany can be quite unpredictable, so we highly recommend bringing a light shawl or jacket.

There is a cloakroom available to store jackets if we are lucky with sunshine.

Travel help

For our guests from afar

This section is mainly for guests travelling internationally or staying in Munich for several days.

Transport recommendations

Regional transportation

Munich International Airport

This is the nearest airport, with easy public transit access to the city via regional trains, or by taxi.

Car rentals

Many major retailers offer car rental, including on site at the airport. For short stays, visitors from the US are generally allowed to drive in Germany with a US driver’s license.

Public transportation

Munich has very good public transportation for trips both within and outside the city, and it is relatively easy to use.

For guests staying a few days or more in the area, we would highly recommend getting a Deutschland ticket. This is a monthly subscription of about 60 Euros, but quickly pays itself off and can be cancelled at any time - this covers all regional transport (regional train, bus, subway) within the whole country. To get this, go to the app store and download “DB Navigator”. From there, you can make an account and manage your subscriptions, as well as buy additional tickets if desired for long-distance trains for travel between cities within Germany.

Stay awhile

Planning a lovely wedding vacay

For many of our guests from the US, it might make sense to combine this wedding visit with a longer vacation — #eurosummer.

Josie will be sure to take a few vacation days surrounding the date to meet up with anyone making a long trip who wants to spend more time together.

We are also happy to provide recommendations for making the most of your trip. Munich itself can provide several days’ worth of options for exploring, and the surrounding area is very beautiful.

Fun day trips from Munich that we can personally recommend

  • Bavaria is known not only for Oktoberfest and beer, but also for incredible scenery. Take a short regional train ride to visit one of the many lakes in the region, for example Starnberger See, Ammersee, Tegernsee, or Chiemsee.
  • Go hiking in the Bavarian Alps and visit a traditional ski town, for example Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
  • Visit a literal fairytale castle, for example Schloss Neuschwanstein.
  • Step atop the highest mountain in Germany, Zugspitze.

For ambitious travellers on #eurosummer

  • Book high-speed trains to most major cities in Germany, starting directly at the centrally located Munich Hauptbahnhof. We can discuss your Deutsche Bahn experience afterward 😈
  • Many lovely locations are reachable from Munich International Airport within a 1–2 hour flight, including destinations within Italy, Czechia, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

Helpful answers

Questions you might be asking

Can I bring my kids?

Yes, of course! If we know you have kids, they will be accounted for in your invitation. Please note, however, that we will not be providing childcare during the night. You are welcome to use the on-site guest house, already reserved by us, if the children need a break from the festivities.

I’m travelling a long way for this — can I hang out with Josie and/or Siyavash before or after the wedding?

Yes, of course! Please contact Josie over WhatsApp to coordinate. She will plan some vacation days accordingly.

Can I wear Lederhosen?

Absolutely not. We will throw you out. Unless you are Bavarian — then we can discuss.

Can I wear traditional wedding guest attire from my own country?

Yes, as long as it is not Lederhosen or sweatpants.

Can I book a hotel closer to where Josie & Siyavash live, so we can spend more time together?

If you are planning a longer trip to Munich and want to stay near us, we would recommend booking a hotel near Arabellapark. Please note, however, that this will be farther away from the wedding venue, on the other side of the city.
